Callers claim you qualify for extra benefits or need a new card, then ask for your Medicare number. That number can be used to bill for services you never received.
Protect yourself
- Medicare does not call to sell anything or ask for your number.
- Only share your number with your doctors, pharmacy and insurer.
- Help older relatives set up call blocking.
