Reports about (646) 555-0112
Got the fake fraud alert text, then a call 2 minutes later. Classic one-time-passcode scam.
Very convincing. Asked me to "move my money to a safe account" because an employee was stealing. That is always a scam.
Exact same thing happened to me last week.
Caller ID showed my bank's name. They knew my last 4 digits. I hung up and called the number on my card: my bank never called me.
Text said "Did you attempt a purchase of $1,249.00? Reply YES or NO". Then this number called claiming to be my bank's fraud team and asked me to read back the code they just texted me. That code is how they get into your account. Hang up!
This helped me today. They had the exact same script.
